Pipila Monument I

This giant sculpture made of pink quarry was inaugurated in 1939 to remember the act of this character who is said to have set fire to the door of the Alhondiga de Granaditas and allowed the insurgent army to enter and take this place that was used as a military barracks. It is the work of Juan Fernando Olaguíbel, who is also the author of the famous statue of Diana the Huntress. Photo: Esteban David Saavedra Del Rayo (Mexico, 2022)
